As I sit down to write this evening, I find myself in a reflective mood. Not in a sappy sense, but in two hours it will be midnight to begin Aug. 14. Another 18 hours after that it will be precisely 6 p.m. central time, and 15 years to the minute after my wedding ceremony began back on Aug. 14, 1999. Fifteen years ago today, the only travel that was on my mind was our honeymoon in Jamaica. But today, I found myself researching an upcoming visit to Traverse City, Mich., and looking at flights for an October weekend to Las Vegas. So let’s have a look at 15 years of travel reflections.

Last week I listed five reasons I don’t like all-inclusive travel. Today, I’m giving the five reasons I like all-inclusive travel. We’ve only stayed in an all-inclusive resort one time, for our honeymoon. We chose this beautiful resort in Jamaica because it fit our needs for our honeymoon. We considered spending a week in Italy, but sightseeing a beautiful country like that wasn’t what we had in mind for our honeymoon. We wanted a place we could relax, not have to worry about the next place to see, and spend a week of romance together on the beach. Here are five reasons I like all-inclusive travel.

I’ve never been on a cruise, and I’ve only stayed at an all-inclusive resort once. So I’m not an expert on travel experiences that require one to pay a large lump sum up front to then enjoy all the experiences without a care in the world.
