Besides the airport, a hotel or resort often is the welcome to a destination for a traveler. If the hotel makes a great first impression then the trip is sure to be off to a great start. When I stayed at the CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa earlier this summer, it would be the lodging for my first-ever trip to Mexico. So, yeah, there was some pressure on this trip-opening experience when I stepped foot on the CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta property.
On our fall trip to New Mexico, we had the opportunity to stay three nights in the Santa Fe Sage Inn, a Downtown accommodation located just out of the historic district but close enough to still enjoy the fun. In fact, we were just across the street from the up-and-coming Santa Fe Rail Yard District and its farmers market, a positive for us considering we’re always looking for neighborhoods on the rise.
On our recent week-long adventure in New Mexico, our time in Albuquerque was a bit odd, to say the least. We started the trip with a quick overnight in the city before heading north for several days in Taos and Santa Fe. We returned to Albuquerque for a 24-hour period, a short time but long enough to experience an art show, science museum, and a couple of awesome experiences at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. And we had a comfortable night’s sleep in the Hotel Cascada.
